"Human nature, unwatched, is perverse."

-Don Miller

Do you agree with that?

If anyone's looking for an update,

The old man who hit me at church? His name is Warren. His insurance people called me today and read me his statement. He is now denying the ENTIRE ACCIDENT.

He was bumbling and elderly, so I told the traffic guy that a police report wasn't neccessary. I didn't get the number of the witnesses because I didn't want to make a big deal of it for this old couple. I shook his hand. I smiled sweetly.

And now, there's a good chance that I won't even get coverage because this old man just decided to accept his oblivion of the traffic world!

In WHAT kind of world do we live that someone can just decide that things didn't happen? And get away with it!

Turns out, this sweet senior citizen Warren is actually an insurance salesmen himself, and is swindling me out of some serious money.

I'm so damn naive.

My father has been calling him and leaving him messages. They started out, "Hi there, I'm Scott Vaudrey and I'm on staff at Willow Creek. I'd really like to discuss the accident on Sunday..." and when Warren didn't return his calls, they became, "I'm offended that you would try to suspend your financial obligations onto a 17-year-old girl!"

My father is brilliant.

My Car Deserves a Better Driver

As I was dropping my siblings off for church last Sunday, an extremely old couple backed into my car. They were VERY elderly. Since it was their fault, I called their insurance company and then I called them this morning to let them know that I was planning on getting some estimates.

I was very conflicted. On one hand, I guess it was sweet how persistantly Ginger was defending Warren. I hope to have a spouse that loyal when I'm 87.

I hope I'm not driving though. They didn't even realize that they hit my car, even though I honked twice when they were getting close to my bumper. They didn't even brake.

And: they said that the front of my car hit the back of their's.

That was a curve ball. I figured they'd be confused. I wouldn't have even been surprised if they forgot about the accident. But saying it was my fault?

"Well honking isn't the answer!" Ginger told me when I tried to explain to her that her '98 LeSabre hit my parked car. "We had no choice but to hit your car. We had to let other people through."

What?

Now I'm going into a fault battle with a couple five times my age. I feel guilty.

Ay.
